In this post I am going to share the Top 15 lesser known features of MIUI (It’s Xiaomi’s mobile operation system). In very short period of time Xiaomi has expanded all over the world with their fully loaded smartphone’s RedMi, Mi3, Note and now Mi4.
MIUI is a wrapper on android’s default OS which has several useful features for which you need to install numerous apps if you are using normal android os.
Though, Xiaomi’s RedMi and Mi series smartphone’s are more famous now still many of the users are still not aware some of the awesome features which are built in the MIUI. Let’s see what those features are.
1) Auto Record Call
Yes, you read it right. MIUI has built in facility to record the incoming calls with several settings.
To enable the call recording following are steps.
- Go to the Contacts
- Then, tap on the menu button (which looks like 3 horizontal lines)
- Then, tap on “Settings”
- And then tap on “Record settings”
- Then change the settings as you want.
Above settings have several options such as “Record automatically” and “Record automatically for the specific numbers” etc.
2) Flip to silence ring on horizontal rotate
This is one of the simple setting which silence the ring of incoming call just by rotating it to down site horizontally and hold for seconds.
To enable it, following are the steps
- Go to the Contacts
- Then, tap on the menu button (which looks like 3 horizontal lines)
- Then, tap on “Settings” > “Call settings” > “Incoming Call Settings”
- And enable “Flip to silence ring”
3) Mute unknown numbers
This feature is useful for them who prefer not to attend unknown numbers. Once you enable this feature, phone will mute the first call from an unknown number.
To enable it, below are the steps.
- Go to the Contacts
- Then, tap on the menu button (which looks like 3 horizontal lines)
- Then, tap on “Settings” > “Call settings” > “Incoming Call Settings”
- And enable “Mute unknown numbers”
4) Prevent pocket dials
This feature is more useful for guys, when it is on it prevents the number to be dialed when phone is in pocket. Though, screen lock is more useful but still if you have kept the screen lock duration to more seconds then this feature will help to prevent the pocket dials.
To enable it, below are the steps.
- Go to the Contacts
- Then, tap on the menu button (which looks like 3 horizontal lines)
- Then, tap on “Settings” > “Call settings” > “Incoming Call Settings”
- And enable “Prevent Pocket Dials”
5) Missed call reminder multiple times after 5 minutes interval
This feature I feel more useful as sometimes you just clears the miss call notification when you are busy with some important work with a though that you will check those in later time (which never happens, at least in my case :-) ). By enabling this feature you will able to see the missed call notifications after 5 minutes interval for the times you have set.
Steps to enable it are as follows,
- Go to the Contacts
- Then, tap on the menu button (which looks like 3 horizontal lines)
- Then, tap on “Settings” > “Call settings” > “Missed call reminders”
- And set the preferred no. of times which you want the missed call notifications to be shown.
