- In Interview Questions
Hi friend, before going to the actual point, I wanted to let you know that I am a Software Engineer by profession and working since 5-6 years in the IT field. During this journey of my career I have attended no. of interviews in different companies and also have conducted some.
In my initial phase of career it was very difficult time to crack the interview as I was just going for the interviews without much planning or preparation. But Soon I realized that this is not going so well and it will require some planning so I started to read interview related articles on internet, started to analyze interview process while attending the same and accordingly started to prepare myself. In this post I am going to share this information related tohow little things matters a lot while preparing for interviews. All this information is in my point of view and mainly about IT field but if you are non-IT person then too you can relate to this.
I will try to share this in proper steps hope you will like it.
Your Resume – First impression is most of the time last impression.
Your resume plays very important role in achieving your dream job. When you share your Resume with HR of the companies, make sure you are putting a true, correct and impressive picture of yourself in front of them. So don’t take your friends resume and start editing. I will suggest writing (Design) your resume from the scratch.
Interviewer looks for following information in resume and if you are making them uncomfortable in finding the same then you are putting a wrong impression.
Your full name& Contact details (Mobile No. and Email ID) :
Keep your name and contact details in Header and Footer in more visible font. It will help interviewer to find your resume easily from the bunch of resumes.
Brief Summary with Total Experience included.
Provide your total experience in heading of your resume e.g. “Innovative Software Engineer offering Total 4.8+ years of competitive experience in development of Web Applications using Microsoft Visual Studio.Net technologies (asp.net c#). “
If you had worked for more than 2 companies, provide a table or something which will show the no. of years you worked with each company starting from the latest one.
Brief information about “What you know” (e.g. Technologies you know)
This part is very important as all the mails you receive related to the openings are as per the keywords you have provided in this section. So put only those technologies about which you really know (Be careful if you are editing)
Projects Information
In this part, provide the “Project Details” which will contain the precise information about the projects for which you have worked.
Important points:
- Type of project
- Technologies used
- Team Size and Duration of the project
- Your role and Responsibilities in the project(if you have any special accomplishments don’t forget to mention it)
- Educational and other personal information.
So if you cleverly able to cover above mentioned information in less no. of pages in proper format then you are putting a decent impression on the person who is reading your resume.
In next post I am sharing the thing you need to take care during the interview.
Hope you have benefited with this post!
All this is from my personal experience, so let me know your experiences and suggestions in comment section below.
Thanks! Happy Job Hunting!!
